We are excited for the 09-10 Wrestling Campaign to begin. Our first day of Practice will be Nov 2nd at 3:45-6:00 p.m. Parents, please make sure that your son has his physical prior to the first day of practice. Junior Mustangs, it is imperative that you show up everyday during the first month or so, this time is crucial. We will be going over all aspects and techniques that are required to get you ready for the first tournament which is Nov 21st. Varsity and JV will travel to Allatoona HS for their Blackbeard Duals on Nov. 21st. Of course, per the schedule, the Varsity(only) will face the defending Cobb County Champions Pope H.S. on Nov. 20th on their mat; although we will take everyone with us that evening.
Over the last several year have established ourselves as a team to reckon with in and out of the State of Georgia- placing 4th at the tough 09 Tiger Classic in North Carolina and placing 9th at the nationally ranked tournament 09 Zak Jarzynka Inv. in Oveido, Florida. Within the State we are the defending Region 5-AAAAA Dual and Individual Champions, and Placed 8th at the State Wrestling Championship in the Gwinnett Civic Center. We have been ranked in the top 10 for the last 3 years during the season and have won multiple Team Championships and have placed top 3 in many others.
We have a good dual team coming back with a mix of veteran and young wrestlers. In our lineup we will have for the first time 3 state placers, (State Runner-up- Ryan Maus 09- 130lbs, and State Champion Jonatan Rivera 09-145lbs, Jonathan Herrera 08-6th 103lbs) and 5 others that are State Qualifiers. Regardless of the inexperience in our first time Varsity Starters there is no doubt that we will still compete for a Region Championship, return and compete for Dual State Championship, win multiple Team Championships throughout the year, and look to be in a hunt for Traditional State Championship as nothing less is acceptable. In order to prepare the wrestlers for this type of performance we have to have a very difficult and tough wrestling schedule which we have put together for the upcoming campaign (see KM wrestling Schedule 09-10).
